Phillies get taste of reality after Series win on MLB show

The Pen will be narrated by former Phillies reliefr pitcher and MLB Network analystMitcyh Williams. The program takes a look at the lives followingthe team’e 2008 World Series win and the pressures of keepintg their roster spot for the 2009 team. The series featurew relief pitchers Brad Ryan Madson, J.C. Romero, Scott Eyre, Clay Condrey, Chad Gary Majewski, Jack J.A. Happ, Chan Ho Park and bullpenn coachMick Billmeyer, and follows them to everything from fishinv trips and youth baseball games to the Whitr House for a post-World Series The program also speaks with players following the suddemn death of longtime Phillies broadcaster Harry Kala s on April 13.
“As a reality-basefd series The Pen is the ultimatew look into the lives of these both on and offthe field,” said Tony Petitti, presiden and CEO of MLB Network. “So much of what we know abourt relief pitchers is based on statisticszand saves, and a series like The Pen gives a levek of familiarity to each player.” The program markas the first program ever producerd using a camera and microphonews installed in a Major League bullpen to film in-gamwe and practice footage. Two other cameras were installed in Citizens Bank one behind home plate and one at lowfirs base, and were controlled by MLB Network’ds headquarters in Secaucus, N.J.
Producer Dann y Field suited up as a catcheer with a camera attached to his mask to capture footaged during spring trainingin Clearwater, Fla. The majorit owner of the MLB Network is MajorLeague Philadelphia-based (NASDAQ:CMCSA, CMCSK), Cox DirecTV and Time Warnere also own interests in the network.
