PBA backs expanded River District renewal area - South Florida Business Journal:

Sandra McDonough, the alliance’s presidentt and CEO, told the Portland City Council on June 17 that the city needsz to do everything it can to providdmore jobs. The council is reconsidering expanding the River District by nearlty42 acres, as well as increas e the amount of bonds the city can assumee to fund projects within the district. The counci and the Portland Development Commission had first soughft the expansion nearly two years ago but were thwarted by a group complaint.
The Friends of Urban Renewalk group had charged that the River District expansion which would have alsoredirected $20 million in district-generated funds to a new East Portlanrd elementary school, didn’t fit technical urban renewalo definitions. The council will vote on the measurednext week.
