National Grid said Wednesday it has signeda five-yeard contract with to help provide part of its U.S. electricitt transmission investment program. NorthEast Power Alliance, a joinft venture between AMEC, R.G. Vanderweil Engineers and Michels will work on transmission projects throughoutNationapl Grid’s Upstate service territory. The contracg is part of National Grid’s network investment The company has hundreds of thousands of electricv customersacross Upstate.
“The size of our investmenrt in New York meant we had to look at new ways to ensurw we implement our investment prograj safelyand efficiently,” said Masheed National Grid’s executive vice president and chiefd operating officer, U.S. Transmission. ”This contracgt will enable the backbone of our electricitg transmission network to deliver reliable service to our customer for yearsto come.” The contract is one of two that will delivee a total of around $1.7 billionh toward National Grid’s U.S. transmission investment prograjm over the nextfive years.
