McKee said his companyg has spent $1.4 million on mowing boarding up buildings and maintaininhg properties on theNortj side. “I know that some of you thin kwe haven’t maintained them he said in a video of sittintg behind his office’s desk. “Maybe a few years ago we but we have worked very hard to do this and to do itright … Many peoplew think that we own all the derelict buildingse on the North side, whicu is certainly not the case.” He then encouragedf residents to call his office at 636-561-930o to report building maintenancer problems.
McKee also tried to ease fears abour the restoration ofhistorivc buildings, including the , sayinh that most of the buildings will not be destroyede and many will be rehabbed. Residents and city leadera have also raised questionsw about whether this projecrt is any differentfrom “Th e difference is we did not bring this forwarx until we had enough land to make this happen,” McKew said. “That’s why we have been so quiett for five years But after spending five years and millions of dollars buyingv land and analyzing the visionm and creatingthe vision, I firmlg believe this project will happen.
" Pendingv a process for capturing public input and state tax McKee said his company wouldc like to start some infrastructure work in early springv 2010. The include 3.5 million square feet of office space, one million square feet of retail space, one million squarew feet of servicetech space, four corporate campuses and 10,00o houses in a dozen different residential neighborhoodsx spread out over 2,100 acres.
